Meet Christy

I didn’t grow up an athlete. I grew up on Weight Watchers.

Four women and two children in a kitchen. One woman in a red dress is holding a plate, another woman with glasses and a blue floral dress is looking down, and the third woman with a pink dress is smiling and leaning forward. The children are seated at a table with one girl looking up at the women and the other girl bending forward. The kitchen has cabinets, a dish rack, and a microwave visible.

A man and woman stand together outdoors near a wooden fence, with a scenic mountainous landscape in the background. The man is wearing a light gray striped hoodie, sunglasses, and a cap, while the woman is dressed in a brown patterned dress and holding a wide-brimmed hat. They are smiling on a sunny day with a clear blue sky.

I was 12 the first time I went to a meeting with my mom. Most of my family struggled with obesity and the health complications that come with it. For as long as I can remember, my relationship with my body was something to manage, not something to enjoy.

I spent over a decade building a career in marketing, working at for-profit and nonprofit organizations. I was good at it. But my health was a different story. I carried extra weight my entire adult life, my cholesterol was high, and the pattern felt inherited and inevitable.

In 2023, everything changed.

I started a GLP-1 medication and committed to something I’d never seriously tried before: progressive strength training. Not the light dumbbells and cardio classes I’d defaulted to for years. Real, intentional, structured strength work. I went from neoprene dumbbells to lifting weights I never imagined I could move.

The results went far beyond the scale. I lost 90 pounds. I brought my cholesterol down to normal ranges through diet and exercise. I built functional strength that shows up in everyday life. I can keep up with my husband on hikes through the Pacific Northwest and come home to dig in my garden without feeling wiped out.

But here’s what changed the most: I finally stopped feeling like a visitor in my own body.

I live in Bellingham, Washington, where I’ve been rooted in the PNW since 2009 (with a brief detour to Colorado). When I’m not coaching, you’ll find me planning my vegetable and flower garden, exploring trails with my husband and our dog Ginger, or planning our next trip.

I built Coach Christy Fitness because I know what it’s like to be the woman standing at the beginning, wondering if it’s too late. It’s not. And I’m living proof.
